Sites can be particularly vulnerable to plant theft due to the need for frequent access by workers, contractors and for deliveries – especially at night and over weekends when no one is around.

Thieves view stealing plant equipment as low risk and high rewards. Equipment such as trailers, dumpers, excavators, breakers, rollers, compressor, tractors and generators are the most at risk.

The recovery rate of stolen construction equipment is very poor because the identification of unmarked plant is virtually impossible once it has been removed from its proper site.
